Lightfoot Travel scores 38/100 as a company record: the Singapore tailor-made company founded in 2009, with offices in Hong Kong, Dubai and the UK, names specialists who have lived where they sell, but publishes no prices and has no reviews, and its home-market protection is a travel agent licence. Below: who owns it, how it was founded, what it charges, the booking terms, who plans the trips, the support on the ground, the reviews and what the record could not find.

Lightfoot Travel scores 38 out of 100: strong on planning, and held back by no published prices, no independent reviews and licence-only protection in its home market. It is not on the Power Rankings, which were set on an older rubric; the rankings will be recalculated from these records.

Lightfoot's strength is its people, and its site shows them. Almost everything a buyer would check before a first call, a price, a review, an after-hours number, is missing, and its own pages disagree on who founded it and when.

The record holds 17 facts about Lightfoot Travel, each with its source and grade. Grade A means the company's own site or terms; grade B means a registry, review platform, awarding body or major press; grade C means a secondary source not confirmed elsewhere. Every line was read on 25 September 2026 unless its source says otherwise.

Lightfoot Travel is owned by its founders: Simon Cameron holds 50% to 75% of the UK company, and no outside investor or parent group was found for any of its three companies.
Cameron is the only person with significant control of Lightfoot Travel Limited in the UK; Nico Heath became a UK director in January 2024, and Lucy Jackson Walsh, the managing director, holds neither role there. The Singapore company, the original business, was incorporated on 1 September 2009; its shareholders were not checked.
Lightfoot's About page says its three founders started the company together in 2009, but their own profiles tell a staggered story: Simon Cameron in Singapore in 2009, Nico Heath at the Singapore office in 2010 and Lucy Jackson Walsh at the Hong Kong office in 2011.
Cameron's profile says that in 2009 "he noticed a gap in the Asian market for a true bespoke luxury tour operator, so founded Lightfoot Travel in Singapore", after a childhood in Sri Lanka and about a decade working across Asia and the Middle East. Heath was an assistant manager at Borana Lodge in Kenya and an apprentice guide in the Maasai Mara. Jackson Walsh's profile says she spent three years in Bali and set up the UK office in 2018.
Lightfoot publishes no prices: its offers page asks readers to sign up for deals, and its destination pages for Kenya, the Maldives and Japan name hotels such as Giraffe Manor and Soneva Jani without a figure.
Its Singapore terms add a service fee on all bookings, without an amount. For what the trips it sells cost elsewhere, see what a Kenya safari costs and the Maldives overwater villa guide.
For Singapore and Hong Kong bookings Lightfoot takes a non-refundable deposit of 30% and the balance 10 weeks before departure, and its protection is a travel agent licence in each; UK bookings carry ATOL 11512.
| When you cancel | What you pay |
|---|---|
| More than three months before departure | The deposit, or 30% if greater |
| Three months or less | 100% |
The Singapore terms print licence TA01894 from the Singapore Tourism Board, also shown for Dubai, although the licence is Singaporean; the Hong Kong terms print licence 353530. Neither describes a bond beyond requiring travel insurance. The UK company holds ATOL 11512 and has been a Protected Trust Services member, 5554, since November 2020; its UK terms page would not load for our reader.
Lightfoot names 25 people with their own profiles, and several state first-hand experience of where they sell, including all three founders.
Karina, a Japan sales consultant, has lived "in both Tokyo and Hong Kong" and speaks Japanese; Heath worked at a Kenyan safari lodge. The team works from Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and the UK.
Lightfoot promises round-the-clock help, "a 24/7 support line" on its home page, but prints no after-hours number, and its contact page gives every office's hours as Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00.
Its offices in Singapore and Hong Kong sit inside two of the destinations it sells; no staff are named elsewhere, and no statement says its own guides travel with clients.
Lightfoot Travel has no independent reviews: it claimed its Trustpilot profile in March 2026 and the profile has none, and no other review profile was found.
Its press page lists media features and hotel programmes such as Rosewood Elite rather than judged awards. Who reviews the reviewers explains how this site treats a company with no reviews.
Lightfoot suits travellers in Singapore, Hong Kong and the Gulf who want a private trip designed by people who have lived in the region, and who are happy to get the price on enquiry.
It suits less well a buyer who wants to compare prices first, read reviews or call a 24-hour line. For trips from its home market, see the Singapore luxury guide, the best luxury tour operators for Japan and the best honeymoon destinations.
Lightfoot gives no price, so the first questions are the quote itself, the service fee and which of its three companies you contract with.
| Decision | What matters for a Lightfoot trip | Where we cover it |
|---|---|---|
| The contract | Singapore and Dubai bookings are with the Singapore company and Hong Kong ones with the Hong Kong company; ask which applies and for the service fee in writing. | Tour platform commission rates |
| Paying the deposit | The 30% deposit is non-refundable from the day it is paid; the card used decides the purchase cover. | Best luxury travel credit cards; Amex Platinum vs Chase Sapphire Reserve |
| Flights to the start | From Singapore or Hong Kong, Africa and Europe are long hauls; the cabin is the traveller's choice. | Best business class airlines; best first class airlines |
| Airport time | Long connections are where lounge access matters. | Credit cards with airport lounge access |
| A delayed flight | A long delay on a flight from an EU or UK airport carries fixed compensation of up to €600 or £520. | AirHelp vs ClaimCompass vs Skycop vs Flightright |
| Travelling alone | Ask for the solo price with the first quote. | Best solo travel destinations |
| Nights either side | Gateway nights are often in chain hotels where status adds breakfast and upgrades. | Hilton Diamond vs Marriott Titanium vs Hyatt Globalist |

The closest alternatives are Scott Dunn and Audley Travel for priced private trips with reviews behind them, Black Tomato for founder-owned design, and Remote Lands or Jacada for Asia and multi-region private travel.
| Company | Record score | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Scott Dunn | 82 | Prints a 24-hour emergency number; priced itineraries; ATOL and ABTOT |
| Audley Travel | 82 | Priced trips from £3,400; Trustpilot 4.9 from 5,022 |
| Black Tomato | 62 | Founder-owned London company; publishes one price |

| Jacada Travel | 42 | Trustpilot 4.9 from 2,583; every sample price reads $0 |
Six things a buyer would want could not be found or verified for Lightfoot Travel. Supplying a verifiable source closes a gap; it changes the evidence, never the rubric.
