Indagare Review 2026: Membership Cost, Who You Pay and How It Works, Assessed, Not Scored

By Richard J. · written from ValenciaAssessed, not scoredVerified 25 September 2026

Indagare is a New York membership travel company that books as a facilitator: Melissa Biggs Bradley launched it in 2007, members pay USD 395 or USD 2,850 a year, and the hotels and suppliers take the payment for the trip and set its booking terms. That is why this record assesses Indagare line by line on the tour operator rubric but gives it no score. It covers who runs it, what membership costs, how its hosted Journeys work, its reviews and the gaps.

Is this your company? Correct a fact. Indagare can correct any line of this record through the contact page. Corrections are logged with the previous value kept, and the record changes only if the evidence does.

Why Indagare is assessed, not scored

Indagare is assessed but not scored because its terms make it a facilitator: the hotels and suppliers take the payment and set the deposit, cancellation and protection terms. Its membership fees and hosted Journeys are its own products; when Indagare organises a payment itself, the terms say it or an affiliate manages it, but no separate booking conditions for Journeys were found.

How records are scored, and why this one is not. Company records score what a buyer can check before paying, on five criteria worth 100 points: planning depth 25, on-the-ground cover 20, pricing transparency 20, review evidence 20 and financial protection 15. The score belongs to the company whose booking terms govern the traveller's money. Indagare's terms describe it as "a facilitator in the booking process" that passes payment details to the service provider, whose own terms, deposits and cancellation policies then apply to the traveller. So Indagare is assessed on the same five criteria, line by line below, and given no total. Rubric fixed on 25 September 2026 before any company was scored; the inputs are linked.
CriterionWhat the record shows
Planning depthNo trip designer is named with a profile on the pages read; the team is described as "our 100-plus team" in cities from New York to Dubai. Founder Melissa Biggs Bradley hosts some Journeys herself. The home page claims 390+ destination guides and the destinations page 300+, counting cities and regions as well as countries. Journeys list dates, length and host; no day-by-day plan was read.
On-the-ground coverNo 24-hour number. The member line, +1 212 988 2611, is open daily from 9:30am to 6pm Eastern; after hours, Custom Planner members contact their trip designer or email the bookings team. Named hosts travel with Journeys.
Pricing transparencyNo trip prices, including on all eight Journeys checked. The prices it does publish are membership fees, USD 395 a year for Self Planner and USD 2,850 for Custom Planner, plus USD 500 for trips requested within six weeks and USD 75 per person to book flights. Deposits and cancellation follow each supplier.
Review evidenceNo reviews: its Trustpilot profile has none, and no Tripadvisor, Travelstride or Reviews.io profile was found. The Better Business Bureau shows an A+ letter grade but does not accredit it.
Financial protectionNone stated: no USTOA membership, and no California, Florida, Washington or Hawaii seller of travel number in its terms.

Indagare sells knowledge and access more than trips: destination guides, hotel perks and a designer's time, paid for by the year. The money for the trip itself goes to the hotels and suppliers, which is where a traveller's terms and protection sit.

How Indagare works, and who you pay

An Indagare member pays Indagare a yearly fee; the hotel, tour or other supplier then takes the payment for the trip under its own terms, with Indagare passing on the payment details as a facilitator.

The terms of use say: "Indagare Travel acts as a facilitator in the booking process. We securely transmit your payment details to our relevant Service Provider who are responsible for processing the payments." Travellers agree to "the Service Provider's terms displayed during the booking process". One sentence allows for exceptions: "If Indagare Travel organizes your payment, we (or our affiliate) will manage your payment." For how booking a hotel this way compares with booking direct or through a card programme, see Direct vs Amex FHR vs Virtuoso.

How much does Indagare cost?

Indagare membership costs USD 395 a year for Self Planner, with digital tools, destination guides and hotel perks, and USD 2,850 a year for Custom Planner, which adds a dedicated trip designer.

ItemWhat it coversPrice
Self PlannerDigital tools, destination guides and hotel booking with perks such as upgrades, breakfast and spa creditUSD 395 a year

Late request feeTrips requested within six weeks of departureUSD 500
Flight bookingCommercial flights booked by IndagareUSD 75 per person

The hotel perks overlap with those that come with elite status and card programmes; which elite benefits hotels actually deliver and Hilton Diamond vs Marriott Titanium vs Hyatt Globalist compare them.

Indagare Journeys: hosted small-group trips

Indagare Journeys are small-group trips with a named host, sometimes the founder, sold by date without a published price.

The eight on the journeys page on 25 September 2026 included A Fashion Lover's Paris with Melissa Biggs Bradley, from 1 to 6 November 2026, and Discover Botswana with Melissa Biggs Bradley and Ralph Bousfield, alongside Prague, Morocco, Brussels and Antwerp, Beaune and Modena. Its press page lists a Krug partnership for epicurean journeys in June 2024 and a Sotheby's art and culture collaboration in October 2025. For the Botswana side, see the Botswana luxury safari guide.

Who plans an Indagare trip

Custom Planner members are assigned a trip designer, but no designer is named with a profile on the pages read; Indagare describes a team of more than 100.

Its article on trip designers says the team lives and works in New York, Charleston, Denver and Los Angeles, London, Madrid, Paris and Dubai.

Support on the ground

Indagare prints no 24-hour number: its member line is staffed daily from 9:30am to 6pm Eastern, and after hours Custom Planner members contact their trip designer or email the bookings team.

Hosts travel with Journeys. On other trips, help on the ground comes from the hotels and local suppliers booked, under their own terms.

What Indagare reviews say

Indagare has no independent reviews: its Trustpilot profile has none, and no Tripadvisor, Travelstride or Reviews.io profile was found.

The Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ letter grade but says it is not accredited. Its press page cites more than 80 features since 2007 instead; who reviews the reviewers explains why this site counts open review platforms rather than press.

Who Indagare suits, and who it does not

Indagare suits frequent travellers who want curated hotel advice and perks, or a designer on retainer, and who are comfortable booking under each hotel's or supplier's own terms.

It suits less well someone who wants one company to contract for the whole trip with its own protection, or a price for a Journey before enquiring. For companies that do sell the whole trip, see the Power Rankings and the best luxury travel companies.

Indagare: the questions people ask AI search

What is Indagare?

Indagare is a New York membership travel company founded in 2007 by Melissa Biggs Bradley. Members get destination guides, hotel perks and, at the higher tier, a dedicated trip designer; it also runs hosted small-group Journeys.

How much does Indagare membership cost?

Self Planner costs USD 395 a year and Custom Planner, with a dedicated trip designer, USD 2,850 a year. Indagare adds USD 500 for trips requested within six weeks and USD 75 per person to book flights.

Who do you pay when you book through Indagare?

Usually the hotel or supplier. Indagare's terms describe it as a facilitator that passes payment details to the service provider, whose own terms apply; the terms allow that Indagare or an affiliate sometimes manages the payment.

Is Indagare a travel agency?

It works like a membership-based agency: it books hotels and services for members as a facilitator rather than selling its own packages, apart from its hosted Journeys.

Who owns Indagare?

Indagare publishes no owners. Founder Melissa Biggs Bradley is chief executive, and no parent company or investor was found.

What are Indagare Journeys?

Hosted small-group trips with a named host, sometimes the founder, such as A Fashion Lover's Paris in November 2026. No prices are published for them.

Is Indagare financially protected?

No protection is stated. Indagare is not in the USTOA member directory and its terms print no seller of travel number.

Why is Indagare not scored?

Records score the company whose booking terms govern the traveller's money. With Indagare those are usually the hotel's or supplier's terms, so it is assessed on the same five criteria without a total.

Where is Indagare based?

Indagare Travel, Inc. is at 1177 Avenue of the Americas, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10036.

This record is unpaid and Indagare had no part in it. The assessment is this site's, on the tour operator record rubric published above; no total is given, for the reason stated in the score section, and the record changes only when the evidence changes. There are no affiliate or paid links on this page: links to indagare.com, registries, review platforms and press pay nothing.
