By Richard J. · written from ValenciaRecord score 54/100Verified 26 September 2026
Marriott Bonvoy's Titanium tier scores 54 out of 100 on our elite benefits index, assessed but short of its pass mark of 60: the only top tier of the five with a cash-and-points remedy in writing, but with breakfast as one welcome-gift choice and upgrades that depend on availability on arrival, in the largest programme of the three, with nearly 271 million members at the end of 2025. This record is the evidence file behind that score. It sets out what Marriott publishes about the programme, what the Titanium, Ambassador and guarantee pages say today, what could not be read, and where our own pages and Marriott's figures disagree.

Marriott Bonvoy scores 54 out of 100 for Titanium, assessed but not ranked on our elite benefits index because it falls short of the pass mark of 60: 20 of 30 for benefits in writing, 0 of 20 for carve-outs, 14 of 20 for confirmable upgrades, 5 of 15 for breakfast and 15 of 15 for a published remedy. The points are the hotel elite benefits index's of 24 September 2026, carried unchanged; the index page prints only 'below 60' for Titanium, and this record prints the breakdown its method produced. Under each component is what Marriott's own pages showed on 26 September 2026. One reading goes back to the index: Marriott's Titanium page now lists five Nightly Upgrade Awards as one of six Annual Choice options, with no confirmation timing, where the index scored ten confirmed up to five days before arrival.
| Component | Points | Out of | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guaranteed in writing | 20 | 30 | Titanium's page guarantees 4 p.m. late checkout ('subject to availability at resort and convention hotels'), lounge access 'at hotel brands that have lounges', 48-hour availability and 75% bonus points; upgrades are 'based on availability upon arrival' and breakfast is one welcome-gift choice. Four of six. |
| Carve-outs | 0 | 20 | Guaranteed Room Type is not available at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, EDITION, four vacation clubs, Design Hotels and The Phoenician Residences, and the welcome gift guarantee lists no compensation at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, EDITION, Design Hotels, Homes & Villas and the vacation clubs. The all-inclusive resorts and MGM Collection on the index's list appear on no guarantee we opened. |
| Confirmable upgrades | 14 | 20 | At 75 Elite Night Credits, 'five Nightly Upgrade Awards' are one of six Annual Choice Benefit options; no page we opened says when they are confirmed. The index's ten awards confirmed up to five days before arrival go to its next verification. |
| Breakfast delivered | 5 | 15 | 'Upon arrival, choose points, breakfast offering or amenity', and the choice varies by brand; where a brand has a lounge, lounge access includes complimentary breakfast. |
| Published remedy | 15 | 15 | The Ultimate Reservation Guarantee pays '$200 USD + 90,000 points' at EDITION, JW Marriott, W and other premium brands, and '$200 USD + 140,000 points' to Titanium and Ambassador members at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and St. Regis. |
| Total | 54 | 100 | Hotel elite benefits index score of 24 September 2026, carried unchanged; evidence read 26 September 2026. |
Marriott publishes more of its promises as compensation than either rival: a guarantee page prices each failure, from USD 25 for a room type not honoured to USD 200 and 140,000 points for a lost reservation at its most expensive brands. It publishes less certainty about the benefits themselves. Upgrades are best efforts on arrival, breakfast is one choice among three, the Nightly Upgrade Awards that could lift the score are an optional perk with no stated timing, and award prices move without a chart, most recently in July 2026, when loyalty sites found them 5 to 10% higher with no notice.

The record holds 18 facts about Marriott Bonvoy, each with its source and grade. Grade A means the company's own site or terms; grade B means a regulator, major press or an established loyalty site, dated on its page; grade C means a secondary source not confirmed elsewhere. Every line was read on 26 September 2026 unless its source says otherwise.

Marriott Bonvoy belongs to Marriott International, Inc., listed on Nasdaq as MAR and headquartered at 7750 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland; Anthony Capuano is Marriott's president and chief executive, and no page we opened names a separate head of the programme.
Marriott's 2025 Form 10-K gives the address (map), the listing and the programme's size: nearly 271 million members at year-end 2025, after about 43 million joined during the year. The same filing records the 2024 final resolutions with the Federal Trade Commission and 49 state attorneys general over Marriott's data security incident, which set long-term data privacy and security requirements. Three of the luxury brands on our luxury hotel brand hierarchy belong to Marriott, each with its own record: St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton and EDITION.
Nearly 271 million members and 9,805 properties in 145 countries and territories at year-end 2025, by Marriott's own filing, the largest of the three programmes on both counts.
Marriott's own loyalty page still says '7,000+' hotels, and our Hilton Diamond vs Marriott Titanium vs Hyatt Globalist comparison gives "~9,300 hotels · 30 brands"; the 10-K's 9,805 at year-end 2025 is the dated figure this record uses. Hilton counted 9,453 properties at 30 June 2026 (its second quarter results) and Hyatt 1,528 at the end of 2025 (its 2025 annual report).
Titanium takes 75 nights a year and Ambassador 100 nights plus USD 23,000 of qualifying spend; no card grants Titanium, but the Brilliant and Business cards together give 40 of the 75 nights, and Marriott publishes no status match.
| Tier | To qualify | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Silver Elite | 10 nights a year; also with the Boundless, Bold and Bevy cards at lower tiers | Member benefits |
| Gold Elite | 25 nights a year; also with the Bevy and Business cards | Member benefits |
| Platinum Elite | 50 nights a year; also with the Brilliant card | Member benefits |
| Titanium Elite | 75 nights a year | Titanium page |
| Ambassador Elite | 100 nights and USD 23,000 of qualifying spend a year | Ambassador page |
Marriott's credit cards page gives the Brilliant card 25 Elite Night Credits and the Business card 15, the 40 our comparison page counts. Ambassador adds Your24, which lets a member choose a check-in time and keep the room until the same time on departure, 'based on availability', and an Ambassador Service team. Our Ambassador guide calls Ambassador "the only hotel top-tier status in the world with a hard dollar threshold"; Hilton's new Diamond Reserve tier also requires USD 18,000 of spend, by its benefit terms, so the line is out of date. The hotel status match guide finds no public Marriott match, as Marriott's own pages confirm.
Marriott's Titanium page guarantees 4 p.m. late checkout outside resort and convention hotels, lounge access where a brand has lounges, 48-hour availability and 75% more points; upgrades are best efforts on arrival, breakfast is one welcome-gift choice, and a guarantee page prices every failure.
The Titanium page reads: 'We'll do our best to upgrade your room (including Select Suites), based on availability upon arrival', and 'Upon arrival, choose points, breakfast offering or amenity'. At 75 Elite Night Credits a member picks one Annual Choice Benefit from six, one of them 'five Nightly Upgrade Awards'; no page we opened says how far ahead they are confirmed. The guarantee page sets the compensation: '$200 USD + 90,000 points' when a reservation is not honoured at EDITION, JW Marriott, W and other premium brands, '$200 USD + 140,000 points' for Titanium and Ambassador members at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and St. Regis, and USD 25 to 100 for a room type or welcome gift not provided. Guaranteed Room Type does not apply at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, EDITION, four vacation clubs, Design Hotels and The Phoenician Residences.
Three lines on our elite benefits index go back for its next verification: ten Nightly Upgrade Awards confirmed up to five days before arrival (Marriott's page: five, as an option, no timing), all-inclusive resorts and the MGM Collection among its carve-outs (on no guarantee we opened), and a remedy it gives as "up to US$200 plus 90,000 points" in one line and as 140,000 points "at Ritz-Carlton" in another, where the guarantee page pays 140,000 at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and St. Regis, to Titanium and Ambassador members.
Marriott publishes no award chart, only 'varying point values'; loyalty sites found award prices 5 to 10% higher in July 2026, with no notice, and The Gritti Palace in Venice at 168,000 points a night.
One Mile at a Time reported the rise on 8 July 2026 as a change made over a weekend; it prints the Gritti Palace price as "168,0000", read here as 168,000. Our loyalty programme devaluation index counts the same change, dates a top price of 150,000 points to March 2023, and assesses Marriott Bonvoy below its pass mark. The value our comparison puts on a Marriott point, 0.75 cents, is our own estimate; Marriott prints none. Our comparison also gives Free Night Award top-offs of 25,000 points, Suite Night Award confirmations "up to five days before arrival, improved from two" and a breakfast credit of "$25 at limited-service and $30 at full-service"; none of the three appears on the Marriott pages we opened.
Titanium suits a traveller who spends 75 nights a year in hotels across many markets and values written compensation over confirmed upgrades; it suits less well anyone who wants breakfast every morning or a suite confirmed before arrival.
With 9,805 properties, Marriott is the programme a frequent traveller is most likely to find in a given city, and its Brilliant card's 25 night credits shorten the road to Titanium by a third. How the three chains' top tiers compare on reach, ease of entry and benefits is set out in Hilton Diamond vs Marriott Titanium vs Hyatt Globalist; the cards that lead to hotel status are compared in our hotel elite status cards guide, general travel cards in our guide to the best luxury travel credit cards and, head to head, in Amex Platinum vs Chase Sapphire Reserve. Booking through a card programme instead is weighed in Direct vs Amex FHR vs Virtuoso.
Which top tier, how to reach it, which cards to hold and whether points or cash make more sense are the next decisions, and each has its own page here.
| Decision | What matters | Where we cover it |
|---|---|---|
| Which top tier | Titanium leads on remedies and reach; Globalist on written benefits. | Hilton vs Marriott vs Hyatt top tiers; Elite benefits index |
| Titanium or Ambassador | Ambassador adds USD 23,000 of spend for Your24 and a named team. | Ambassador guide |
| Which cards | Brilliant and Business together give 40 night credits. | Hotel elite status cards; Best luxury travel credit cards |
| Points or cash | Award prices rose again in July 2026, without a chart. | Devaluation index |

Marriott Bonvoy appears on seven Uncompromised Travel pages with a position or a figure, and holds a numbered rank on none of them.
| Page | Position | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel elite benefits index | Titanium assessed, not ranked (below 60) | Scores ten Nightly Upgrade Awards confirmed up to five days before arrival (Marriott's page: five, as one Annual Choice option, no timing), names all-inclusive resorts and the MGM Collection as carve-outs (on no guarantee we opened), and gives the top remedy as 'up to US$200 plus 90,000 points' in one line and 140,000 points 'at Ritz-Carlton' in another (Marriott: 140,000 at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and St. Regis) |
| Hilton Diamond vs Marriott Titanium vs Hyatt Globalist | Broadest reach; daily benefits 62, suite upgrades 55 | Gives "~9,300 hotels · 30 brands" (10-K: 9,805 at year-end 2025) and three lines not on the Marriott pages we opened: 25,000-point top-offs, Suite Night Award confirmation five days out and a USD 25 or 30 breakfast credit; its 40 night credits from two cards match Marriott's card page |
| Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite guide | No score | Its 100 nights, USD 23,000, Plus One at USD 40,000 and 75% bonus match Marriott's pages; "the only hotel top-tier status ... with a hard dollar threshold" predates Hilton's Diamond Reserve, and Marriott calls the service Ambassador Service, not Personal Ambassador |
| Loyalty programme devaluation index | Assessed, not ranked | Its July 2026 rise of about 5 to 10% with no notice and the 168,000-point Gritti Palace price match the loyalty-site report it cites |
| Hotel status match guide | No public Marriott match | Matches Marriott's pages, where the status match address returned an error; the Brilliant card's Platinum grant matches Marriott's card page |
| Hotel elite status cards | Brilliant: Platinum and 25 night credits | Brilliant's USD 650 fee, 85,000-point night, USD 25 monthly dining credit and USD 100 credit at The Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis for two nights match Marriott's card page; the Business card's fee is USD 125 there, not the page's USD 95 |
| Luxury hotel brand hierarchy | St. Regis 73, The Ritz-Carlton 71, EDITION 64 | Names Marriott Bonvoy as the programme for all three; each brand has its own record |
The nearest alternatives on the same rubric are the other four top tiers the index assessed: World of Hyatt Globalist 63, ALL Accor Diamond 58, IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite 32 and Hilton Honors Diamond 29. Only Globalist reached the pass mark of 60; the index page prints the others as below 60, and the figures here are its working scores, carried unchanged. World of Hyatt and Hilton Honors have their own records.
| Programme | Index score | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| World of Hyatt | 63 | Globalist confirms suites at booking and includes breakfast, but states no compensation if a guarantee fails, and Hyatt has about 1,500 hotels against Marriott's 9,805 |
| ALL Accor Diamond | 58 | By the index: Suite Night Upgrades confirmed at booking, breakfast at weekends, and relocation with transfer costs paid if a room guarantee fails |
| IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite | 32 | 70 nights or 120,000 points; lounge access is a milestone choice rather than a tier benefit, by the index |
| Hilton Honors | 29 | Diamond takes 50 nights, 25 stays or USD 11,500 and guarantees lounge access even without an upgrade, but prices no remedy and confirms no upgrade at booking |
Seven things a member would want could not be found or verified for Marriott Bonvoy. Supplying a verifiable source closes a gap; it changes the evidence, never the rubric.

Marriott International, Inc., listed on Nasdaq as MAR and headquartered at 7750 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland. Anthony Capuano is its president and chief executive. Marriott Bonvoy scores 54 out of 100 on this record, for its Titanium tier.
Nearly 271 million at year-end 2025, by Marriott's 2025 Form 10-K, after about 43 million joined during the year. Marriott counted 9,805 properties in 145 countries and territories at the same date.
With 75 nights in a calendar year. No card grants Titanium, but the Brilliant card gives 25 Elite Night Credits and the Business card 15, so a member holding both needs 35 more nights. Marriott publishes no status match.
Ambassador needs 100 nights and USD 23,000 of qualifying spend a year, against 75 nights for Titanium. It adds Your24, a chosen check-in time with the room kept until the same time on departure, based on availability, and a dedicated Ambassador Service team.
Marriott's Titanium page guarantees 4 p.m. late checkout except at resort and convention hotels, lounge access where a brand has lounges, 48-hour availability and 75% more points. Upgrades are best efforts on arrival, and breakfast is one choice of welcome gift.
Its guarantee page pays USD 200 and 90,000 points when a reservation is not honoured at premium brands, USD 200 and 140,000 points for Titanium and Ambassador members at The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and St. Regis, and USD 25 to 100 for a room type or welcome gift not provided.
Marriott's Titanium page lists five Nightly Upgrade Awards as one of six Annual Choice options at 75 nights, but no page we opened says how far ahead they are confirmed. Our elite benefits index scored them as confirmed up to five days before arrival; that reading goes back to the index.
Yes, by loyalty-site reporting: One Mile at a Time found award prices about 5 to 10% higher in July 2026, changed without notice, with The Gritti Palace in Venice at 168,000 points a night. Marriott publishes no award chart.
The Brilliant card from American Express, at USD 650 a year, gives Platinum Elite and 25 Elite Night Credits. The Business card, at USD 125, and the Bevy card give Gold Elite; the Boundless and Bold cards from Chase give Silver Elite.
On our elite benefits index Titanium scores 54 and Diamond 29. Titanium leads on benefits in writing, 20 against 15, confirmable upgrades, 14 against 6, and a published remedy, 15 against 3; the two tie on breakfast, 5 each, and carve-outs, 0 each.
