Hilton Honors Review 2026: Record Score of 29, 260 Million Members, New Diamond Reserve Tier

Hilton Honors Diamond scores 29 out of 100 on our elite benefits index, the lowest of the five top tiers it assessed and short of its pass mark of 60: lounge access even without an upgrade and a 100% points bonus are in writing, but upgrades wait on availability at check-in, breakfast is one MyWay choice and no payment is promised if a benefit fails, in a programme Hilton says has 260 million members. This record is the evidence file behind that score. It sets out what Hilton publishes about the programme, what its benefit terms and tier pages say today, what could not be read, and where our own pages and Hilton's figures disagree.

How Hilton Honors scores: 29 out of 100

Hilton Honors scores 29 out of 100 for Diamond, assessed but not ranked on our elite benefits index because it falls short of the pass mark of 60: 15 of 30 for benefits in writing, 0 of 20 for carve-outs, 6 of 20 for confirmable upgrades, 5 of 15 for breakfast and 3 of 15 for a published remedy. The points are the hotel elite benefits index's of 24 September 2026, carried unchanged; the index page prints only 'below 60' for Diamond, and this record prints the breakdown its method produced. Under each component is what Hilton's own pages showed on 26 September 2026, and none of it contradicts the index: its ten brands without complimentary upgrades match Hilton's list, and the one sentence on a denied benefit caps Hilton's liability at its 'equivalent value' without promising any payment.

Hilton publishes its benefit terms in full and has moved its firmest promises up a tier: guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout, a 120% bonus and the only upgrade it confirms at booking now belong to Diamond Reserve, which takes 80 nights or 40 stays and USD 18,000 of spend. Diamond, easier to reach since Hilton lowered its thresholds in 2026, keeps lounge access even without an upgrade and a 100% bonus, but its upgrades, late checkout and breakfast all depend on the hotel, no payment is promised if a benefit fails, and award prices, with no chart on any Hilton page we opened, rose at the top from 150,000 to 250,000 points a night during 2025, by loyalty-site reporting.

The evidence record

The record holds 19 facts about Hilton Honors, each with its source and grade. Grade A means the company's own site or terms; grade B means a regulator, major press or an established loyalty site, dated on its page; grade C means a secondary source not confirmed elsewhere. Every line was read on 26 September 2026 unless its source says otherwise.

Who owns Hilton Honors?

Hilton Honors belongs to Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc., listed in New York as HLT and headquartered at 7930 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, Virginia; Christopher J. Nassetta is Hilton's president and chief executive, and no page we opened names a separate head of the programme.

Hilton's investor site gives the address (map), and its results of 28 July 2026 give the listing and the programme's size: 260 million members, across 9,453 properties at 30 June 2026. The programme terms say membership and benefits are offered by Hilton Honors, "a wholly owned subsidiary of Hilton Domestic Operating Company Inc." No Hilton page we opened gives the year the programme began; Wikipedia's account is 1987, as Hilton HHonors. Hilton's one brand on our luxury hotel brand hierarchy, Waldorf Astoria, has its own record, which covers the hotels rather than the points.

How big is Hilton Honors?

260 million members, by Hilton's results of 28 July 2026, and 9,453 properties in 144 countries and territories across 28 brands at 30 June 2026, second only to Marriott on both counts.

The 9,453 include 121 Hilton Grand Vacations properties; Hilton's hotels alone number 9,332, with 1,363,441 rooms. Marriott counted 9,805 properties and nearly 271 million members at the end of 2025 (its 2025 Form 10-K), and Hyatt 1,528 hotels and about 63 million members (its 2025 annual report).

How to reach Diamond and Diamond Reserve

Diamond takes 50 nights, 25 stays or USD 11,500 of eligible spend a year, or the Aspire card; Diamond Reserve takes 80 nights or 40 stays, each with USD 18,000 of spend, and no status match page appears on hilton.com.

Hilton's tier updates page gives the lower thresholds as 'coming in January': 17% fewer nights and stays for Diamond, 38% fewer nights for Gold. Its article of 8 June 2026 says that in 2026 the programme debuted "a new premium tier and a faster path to Gold and Diamond status", and the benefit terms end rollover nights from 1 January 2026. Status lasts for the rest of the year in which it is earned and the following calendar year, and a member who has held Diamond for three years with 250 lifetime nights or 500,000 Base Points can extend it once, by a year. Our hotel status match guide describes a Hilton match, a 90-day Gold trial in which 6 paid nights keep Gold and 12 earn Diamond, through 31 March 2028; three status match addresses on hilton.com returned errors and the Hilton Honors home page links to none, so those terms could not be checked. Diamond Reserve's USD 18,000 of spend also puts a line in our Marriott Ambassador guide out of date: it calls Ambassador "the only hotel top-tier status in the world with a hard dollar threshold".

What Diamond guarantees in writing

Hilton's benefit terms guarantee Diamond members Executive Lounge access for themselves and one guest even without an upgrade, the 48-hour reservations guarantee on paid stays and a 100% points bonus; upgrades wait on availability at check-in, late checkout on a request, breakfast is one MyWay choice, and no payment is promised if a benefit fails.

The benefit terms say Diamond members 'may receive complimentary room upgrades to preferred rooms, based on availability at the time of check-in', up to junior, standard or one-bedroom suites, and that 'late checkout must be requested and is subject to availability'. Ten brands 'do not offer complimentary upgrades': Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton, LivSmart Studios, Tru, Spark, Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites, Hilton Grand Vacations and Motto. The programme terms add five named resorts or floors, among them Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, which the Waldorf Astoria record also notes. The 48-hour guarantee covers paid reservations made at least 48 hours ahead, but not points or free-night stays, hotels overbooked by 10% or more (2% at some) or 'Extraordinary Demand Dates'. If a benefit is improperly denied, Hilton's liability 'will be limited to the equivalent value of that accrual of Points or benefit as determined solely by Hilton Honors'.

Hilton's firmer promises now sit one tier up. Diamond Reserve gets 'guaranteed 4pm late check out on qualifying Stays', a 120% bonus and Confirmable Upgrade Rewards, which lock in a room up to a one-bedroom suite 'at the time of booking' for stays of up to seven nights; a Diamond member can use one only when another member transfers or gifts it. Hilton announced on 8 June 2026 that Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve members would also see complimentary and paid upgrade options at digital check-in in the Hilton Honors app. Our elite benefits index reads the same terms: its ten brands without upgrades match Hilton's list, and its 'no compensation stated' holds, since the liability cap promises no payment.

How Hilton Honors points are priced, and what changed in 2025

Hilton publishes no award chart on any page we opened; loyalty-site reporting puts the top standard-room price at 250,000 points a night since September 2025, up from 150,000 before May 2025, a 67% rise.

One Mile at a Time reported on 9 September 2025 that Hilton had 'just increased redemption rates at its top properties to 250,000 points per night', 'a 25% increase overnight, and a 67% increase compared to earlier this year', and that 'a lot of other hotels' had risen too, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island among them. Our loyalty programme devaluation index counts the same 67% and assesses Hilton Honors below its pass mark; its further line, 'September 2026: mid-tier hotels raised', matches no dated report this record found, and may belong to September 2025. The value our comparison puts on a Hilton point, 0.4 cents, is our own estimate; Hilton prints none. The comparison's "$25 F&B credit" for Diamond breakfast could not be checked either: the page listing each brand's MyWay choices refused our reader.

Who Hilton Honors suits, and who it does not

Diamond suits a traveller who wants a top tier with the least effort, through 50 nights, 25 stays, USD 11,500 of spend or the Aspire card, and values lounge access across a very large network; it suits less well anyone who wants breakfast every morning, a suite confirmed before arrival or compensation in writing.

Hilton's 9,453 properties are second only to Marriott's, and the Aspire card, at USD 550, is the only card among the three programmes that grants the tier the index assessed. It also carries up to USD 400 a year at Hilton resorts, USD 200 in flight credits, USD 219 towards CLEAR+ and USD 100 at Waldorf Astoria and Conrad on stays of two nights or more, by Hilton's card page. The nearest alternatives on the same rubric are the other four top tiers the index assessed: World of Hyatt Globalist 63, ALL Accor Diamond 58, Marriott Bonvoy Titanium 54 and IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite 32. Only Globalist reached the pass mark of 60; the index page prints the others as below 60, and the figures here are its working scores, carried unchanged. World of Hyatt and Marriott Bonvoy have their own records.

What this record does not show

What changed at Hilton Honors, 2025 to 2026

Hilton raised its top award price twice in 2025, by loyalty-site reporting, then in 2026 lowered its Gold and Diamond thresholds, ended rollover nights, added Diamond Reserve and, in June, announced upgrades that tier can confirm at booking.
