Oetker Hotels is third of the twenty brands on our luxury hotel brand hierarchy, at 92 out of 100: twelve hotels in seven countries, run as the hotel division of Oetker Collection, which its own pages say is owned by shareholders Dr. Alfred and Ferdinand Oetker, with no points programme and no room rates published outside its booking engine. This record is the evidence file behind that score. It sets out what Oetker Hotels publishes about itself, how Forbes Travel Guide rates the hotels we could read, what could not be found, and where our independent hotel group index disagrees under the parent group's name, Oetker Collection.

The points are the luxury hotel brand hierarchy's of 7 September 2026, carried unchanged; under each criterion is what we could read on 26 September 2026. Oetker's own pages now name the brand Oetker Hotels and list twelve hotels in seven countries, matching the hierarchy's count exactly; our independent hotel group index still calls it Oetker Collection and gives eleven hotels in eight countries, a difference this record carries to that index's next update rather than to the hierarchy's score.

Oetker Hotels publishes who owns it, its address and its executives, and names twelve hotels in seven countries with no aggregate count sentence. It publishes little else a guest could check before booking: no rate outside its booking engine, no staff numbers and no room count for five of its twelve hotels. The MICHELIN Guide gives nine of the twelve a Key, from Three at Le Bristol Paris and Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc down to One at Hotel La Palma and Château Saint-Martin, and Forbes Travel Guide rates Le Bristol Paris Five-Star and The Lanesborough, Jumby Bay Island and Palácio Tangará Four-Star; Le Bristol's own claim of four Michelin stars across its restaurants remains separate from its Key and could not be confirmed on a MICHELIN restaurant page.

Who owns Oetker Hotels?

Oetker Hotels is run inside Oetker Collection, which its own pages say is "owned by shareholders Dr. Alfred and Ferdinand Oetker"; the operating entity for the hotels is Oetker Hotel Holding Company GmbH, registered in Bielefeld, Germany.

The legal information page gives the address Gehrenberg 2, 33602 Bielefeld, care of Oetker Collection KG, and two commercial-register numbers, HRB 44122 at the Amtsgericht Bielefeld and HRB704429 at the Amtsgericht Mannheim, neither a stock listing. It names CEO Dr Timo Grünert and CFO Jens Hackebeil on its executive team page. The Oetker Collection page says the group was "founded in 2021" and "comprises 148 individual companies in 37 countries" with revenue of "nearly EUR 2.6 billion and almost 8,300 employees"; hotels sit inside it as the "Masterpiece Hotels (Oetker Hotels)" division alongside businesses such as Henkell Freixenet.

The brand's own pages now use the name Oetker Hotels throughout, which is what our luxury hotel brand hierarchy calls it too. Our independent hotel group index, last verified 21 September 2026, still calls the same hotels Oetker Collection, which is the name of the parent group rather than the hotel brand; that index describes the group as managed by the Oetker family. This record uses the name its own site now uses, Oetker Hotels, and mentions Oetker Collection here so a search for either name finds it.

How many hotels does Oetker Hotels have?

Oetker Hotels lists twelve hotels in seven countries on its own site, matching the number our hierarchy prints exactly; no page states the total as a single sentence. Two changes were visible on the hotels themselves as of 26 September 2026, and two leadership changes were announced for October and September that year.

Our own count of the twelve, from the United States to Brazil, gives seven countries; the collection also runs L'Apogée Courchevel in the Alps, a resort covered in best ski destinations; the villas page for Jumby Bay Island says each of its 56 properties is "individually owned on a freehold basis".

Our independent hotel group index, verified 21 September 2026, counts eleven hotels in eight countries under the name Oetker Collection, dates the group to 1870, and gives it three Forbes Five-Star hotels and eight of eleven with a MICHELIN Key. Five days later, oetkerhotels.com lists twelve hotels in seven countries, dates its own story to 1964, shows Five-Star for one of the four Forbes ratings we could read, and the MICHELIN Guide's own listings show nine of the twelve with a Key. Both counts are printed here; the difference goes to that index's next update rather than to this record's score.

How Oetker's hotels are rated by Forbes Travel Guide and the MICHELIN Guide

The MICHELIN Guide lists nine of Oetker's twelve hotels with a Key, and Forbes Travel Guide rates Le Bristol Paris Five-Star and three more hotels Four-Star.

The MICHELIN Guide's city listings, read directly rather than through each hotel's own page, give a Key to nine of the twelve: Three for Le Bristol Paris and Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Two for Brenners, The Lanesborough, L'Apogée Courchevel, Palácio Tangará and The Vineta, and One for Hotel La Palma and Château Saint-Martin. The Saint Barthélemy listing does not include Eden Rock, and Le Mas Bellevue is absent from the Saint-Tropez listing; Jumby Bay Island was not checked. None of these listings print a year. Forbes Travel Guide grades hotels Recommended, Four-Star or Five-Star and prints no year either; its ratings come from Le Bristol Paris, The Lanesborough, Jumby Bay Island and Palácio Tangará. Le Bristol's own page separately claims its restaurants hold "four Michelin stars in all" under chef Arnaud Faye, a claim the MICHELIN Guide's restaurant pages we tried could not confirm.

Who Oetker Hotels suits, and who it does not

Oetker Hotels suits a traveller who wants a small number of long-established, family-owned hotels in a handful of cities and coasts and will book without points or a published rate; it suits less well anyone chasing chain status or a guaranteed Forbes Five-Star night.

Its two best-known addresses sit in Paris and London, both covered in our best city break destinations guide, and its Alpine hotel, L'Apogée Courchevel, sits in a resort covered in best ski destinations. Of the four Forbes Travel Guide ratings we could read, one is Five-Star, Le Bristol Paris; the other three read are Four-Star, and eight hotels have no rating we could open.
