Four Seasons is seventh of twenty brands on our luxury hotel brand hierarchy, at 87 out of 100: its own hotel finder headed "144 hotels and resorts" on 26 September 2026, eight more than the hierarchy counted on 7 September, and no Four Seasons page we opened names an owner. This record is the evidence file behind that score. It sets out what Four Seasons publishes about itself, how the MICHELIN Guide rates the hotels we could read, what could not be found, and where our other pages and Four Seasons' own figures disagree.

Four Seasons publishes who runs it day to day, where its head office sits and which hotels are opening next. It does not publish who owns it, a single count of hotels or countries, an entry-room rate, or a company-wide tally of Forbes Travel Guide or MICHELIN results. The individual results we could read run strong: the MICHELIN Guide has given six named hotels a Key, four of them announced by Four Seasons itself in 2026; Four Seasons Hotel George V, one of the six, also says its three restaurants hold six Michelin stars between them. Who owns Four Seasons?
Not confirmed on any Four Seasons page we opened; our luxury hotel brand hierarchy names Cascade Investment, Kingdom Holding and Isadore Sharp as owner, a claim Four Seasons' own pages neither state nor contradict.
The about, history and press pages name no owner. Kingdom Holding's own site calls Four Seasons "one of the world's most prestigious hotel management companies" but prints no stake in it. Four Seasons dates itself to 1961, when Isadore Sharp, "working with his contractor father, Max Sharp," opened a motor hotel in Toronto; its corporate bios page lists Alejandro Reynal as President and Chief Executive Officer and Robert Fritz as Executive Chairman, with six more named executives below them. No stock listing for Four Seasons itself was found on any page opened.

Four Seasons gives no single portfolio number: the finder prints no country total, and its residences sit in separate "Private Residences" and "Villa & Residence Rentals" categories rather than one figure matching the hierarchy's 61. Forbes Travel Guide grades hotels Recommended, Four-Star or Five-Star, and rates the George V Five-Star; no Four Seasons page publishes a Five-Star or Four-Star count. Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris says its three restaurants hold "six Michelin stars among them," the only company statement of Michelin recognition for a restaurant that we could read; no page names a company-wide count of starred restaurants. Four of the Keys above come from Four Seasons' own release naming them: Punta Mita, Langkawi, Tokyo at Marunouchi and Kuala Lumpur; the other two come from the MICHELIN Guide's own listings, the George V's Three Keys from its Paris list and Landaa Giraavaru's One Key from its Maldives list.

Four Seasons suits a traveller who wants a full-service hotel in a well-known city or resort and is will book without a published rate; it suits less well anyone who wants the small scale Aman or Soneva sell, or status that carries to other hotels.
Its city hotels are larger than most on the hierarchy's top ten: 243 rooms at the George V in Paris, 219 in New York and 196 at Park Lane in London; how those cities rank for a short stay is in best city break destinations. Its resorts vary more, from 16 rooms at the Tented Camp Golden Triangle to 115 bungalows and villas at Bora Bora, where accommodation runs from 100 to 800 square metres; whether a private villa or a hotel room suits a stay like that is weighed in villa vs hotel.
