Rosewood is eighth of the twenty brands on our luxury hotel brand hierarchy, at 86 out of 100: 44 properties by its own count, run by Sonia Cheng as Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, with New World Hotel Management Limited named as operator and no page we opened naming Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, the owner our hierarchy prints. This record is the evidence file behind that score. It sets out what Rosewood publishes about itself, how Forbes Travel Guide and the MICHELIN Guide rate the Rosewood hotels we could read, what could not be found, and where our other pages and Rosewood's own figures disagree.

How Rosewood scores: 86 out of 100

Rosewood scores 86 out of 100, eighth of twenty brands: 16 of 20 for rate band, 22 of 25 for consistency across the portfolio, 18 of 20 for service depth, 14 of 15 for food and drink, and 16 of 20 for privacy and scale. The points are the luxury hotel brand hierarchy's of 7 September 2026, carried unchanged; under each criterion is what we could read on 26 September 2026. Two figures the hierarchy prints could not be confirmed on any Rosewood page we opened, its owner and its count of 38 hotels open with 21 in development; both are flagged below and in the stands section, and neither changes the score shown here.

Rosewood publishes detailed award figures, Forbes Five-Star hotels and MICHELIN Keys named by the dozen, and a 2026 fact sheet with a portfolio count. It publishes less that a guest could check before booking: no rate outside a single percentage-off programme, few room counts in its own words rather than a rating body's, and no page naming Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, the owner our hierarchy prints. Its own fact sheet does not agree with itself on the property count either, 44 in one place and 43 in another.

The evidence record

The record holds 19 facts about Rosewood, each with its source and grade. Grade A means the company's own site or terms; grade B means a rating body such as Forbes Travel Guide or the MICHELIN Guide, a registry or major press; grade C means a secondary source not confirmed elsewhere. Every line was read on 26 September 2026 unless its source says otherwise.

Who owns Rosewood?

Rosewood is run by Sonia Cheng, named "Chief Executive Officer, Rosewood Hotel Group" on its own press releases; the operating entity named in its privacy policy is New World Hotel Management Limited, and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, the owner our hierarchy prints, appears on no Rosewood page we opened.

The privacy policy gives two head office addresses, both marked "Attn: Legal Department": 1250 Slocum St., Suite 737, Dallas, TX 75207, and 21/F K11 Atelier, 728 King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong SAR. The same policy names regional operating entities, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts Netherlands B.V. for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, L.L.C. for the Americas, and covers the New World Hotels and Resorts and Carlyle and Co. brands under the same group. No stock listing appears on any page we opened. Rosewood dates itself to 1979 on its our story page, and names no founder there.

Two of our own pages name an owner Rosewood does not. Our luxury hotel brand hierarchy prints Chow Tai Fook Enterprises through Rosewood Hotel Group, and our four-brand duel says Rosewood Hotel Group is controlled by Hong Kong's Cheng family. Rosewood's own corporate and parent group pages returned no readable content this session, so neither claim could be checked at the source, and this record treats both as unconfirmed until they can be.

How many hotels does Rosewood have?

Rosewood says 44 in its 2026 fact sheet, "44 one-of-a-kind destinations", though the same document also says 43 elsewhere; our hierarchy counts 38 open with 21 in development. The fact sheet lists fifteen more properties under "new projects", with no opening year for any of them, read on 26 September 2026.

Rosewood's lists overlap: Tokyo appears among the fifteen new projects although Rosewood reported it open on 15 May 2026, and Rosewood AMAALA, which Rosewood reported open on the Red Sea on 18 August 2026, is a different property from the Shura Island project on the list; the hierarchy's own 38-open figure is dated 7 September 2026 and goes to its next update alongside this gap. Rosewood's own award fact sheet still lists "Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth" among its Two Key hotels, and the MICHELIN Guide's own St-Barthélemy listing names the same hotel the same way, Two Keys; Airelles' own site names it Le Guanahani, Saint-Barthélemy, as due to open on 1 November 2026 under its own brand. Both are printed here as each brand states them, with no transfer between the two inferred. What Rosewood calls "Rosewood Residences" is named as a brand concept on the fact sheet with no operational count printed anywhere we opened, a gap our branded residences index scores on its own axis, not the one above.

How Rosewood's hotels are rated by Forbes Travel Guide and the MICHELIN Guide

Rosewood's own 2026 award fact sheet lists eleven Forbes Five-Star hotels and thirty-five with MICHELIN Keys, seven of them at the top grade, Three Keys.

Forbes Travel Guide grades hotels Recommended, Four-Star or Five-Star, and the MICHELIN Guide gives one to three Keys; neither listing we read prints the year of the award, though Rosewood's own fact sheet dates itself 2026. Rosewood Hong Kong holds the brand's top MICHELIN grade and was ranked No. 1 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026, and is not on the eleven-hotel Forbes Five-Star list its own fact sheet prints: Forbes Travel Guide's own page lists it as Recommended. Room counts here come from Forbes Travel Guide, not Rosewood's own pages: Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood London, Rosewood Miramar Beach and Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, whose eleven villas are the kind of stay weighed in our villa versus hotel guide.

The MICHELIN Guide's own city listings confirm three of these Keys directly, each read on 26 September 2026: Three Keys at Rosewood Hong Kong, Two at Hôtel de Crillon and Two at Rosewood Bangkok, whose MICHELIN entry links the restaurant Nan Bei.

How to book Rosewood, and whether any perks come with it

Rosewood runs no consumer loyalty programme its own pages describe; its only named direct booking perk is Rosewood Advance, up to 15% off flexible rates, seen live on Rosewood London.

The Rosewood Elite address on Rosewood's site redirects to generic content whose only programme-like text is "Gather More, Gain More", which reads as an incentive for group and meetings business rather than a guest loyalty scheme. Our Direct vs Amex FHR vs Virtuoso guide names "Rosewood Elite" alongside Belmond Bellini Club, Mandarin Oriental Fan Club and Peninsula PenClub as an advisor perk programme, but no Rosewood page describing what it delivers could be opened. Our Booking.com vs direct audit found Hôtel de Crillon and Rosewood Villa Magna priced close to identical on Booking.com and direct, with neither hotel's own page printing a rate to check that against.

Who Rosewood suits, and who it does not

Rosewood suits a traveller who wants a large flagship hotel in a major city with a Forbes rating or a MICHELIN Key attached; it suits less well anyone who wants the scale of a small resort or a nightly rate before enquiring.

Its two best documented hotels by room count, Rosewood Hong Kong at 413 rooms and suites and Rosewood London at 263 rooms and 45 suites, are large by the standard of the tier above it on our hierarchy; how those two cities rank for a short stay is in our best city break destinations guide. Rosewood frames its aim as what it calls "Relationship Hospitality", a stated belief that people and place should each add something to the other, rather than naming a single traveller segment.
