Yellow Zebra Safaris Review 2026: Is It Legitimate, What It Costs, and How It Compares
Yellow Zebra Safaris is legitimate, ATOL-protected (licence 10614), and one of the two or three best-evidenced tailor-made safari specialists in Britain: 4.9 from 1,710 Trustpilot reviews with new ones arriving daily, the World Travel Awards' Europe's Leading Safari Tour Operator every year from 2015 to 2025, and published from-prices on its itineraries, from about £4,400 per person for eleven nights in Tanzania to £29,105 for a 22-night exploration. It scores 87/100 here. Founded in Kingston upon Thames in April 2012 and staffed, by its own account, by former guides and camp managers, it owns no lodges and books across fourteen countries. Is Yellow Zebra Safaris legitimate and financially protected?
The company's proposition is the person on the phone. Its consultants, it says, have guided, run camps or grown up in Africa, and because it owns no lodges it can put you in whichever camp suits the month rather than whichever it needs to fill. That is the standard specialist model, and the specialist vs booking direct page explains why the lodge rate is the same whether you book through Yellow Zebra, another specialist or the lodge itself: the specialist's fee is inside the lodge's commission, not added to your bill. What you are choosing between specialists is knowledge, protection and service, and on those three Yellow Zebra scores as well as any British operator this site has reviewed.
The honest limits. It is an agency at the mid-to-upper level rather than the ultra end: its published itineraries top out around £30,000 per person, and a traveller wanting an exclusive-use Singita or a private-jet circuit will be better served by an operator built for that. It has no African office. And its record, deep as it is, sits almost entirely on one platform; its SafariBookings listing holds 25 reviews, the minimum this site's review index counts as corroboration. Two things stand out. The floor is lower than most readers expect from an award-winning specialist: £400 a night for a family safari in Tanzania is the value tier on this site's ladder, and reflects the tented camps and four-star lodges Yellow Zebra is willing to book when the brief calls for it. The World Travel Awards title is decided by an industry and consumer vote from a shortlist that is partly self-entered, so eleven wins say as much about consistency of standing as about any single year; the 2025 shortlist Yellow Zebra beat included Audley Travel, Expert Africa and Mahlatini. The Condé Nast listings are editor-selected and name people rather than companies, which for a bespoke planner is the more telling credential.
