Do flight compensation companies take over my claim or act on my behalf?
By Richard Jasinski·Updated 4 November 2026
15 of the claims companies in the Uncompromised Travel table say what you sign. Under an assignment the claim becomes the company's, as at ClaimFlights, MYFLYRIGHT and Refund Pilot; under a power of attorney it acts in your name, as at FairPlane, SkyRefund and AirCashBack.
Do flight compensation companies take over my claim or act on my behalf?
It depends on the company: ClaimFlights, MYFLYRIGHT, AviFly and Refund Pilot take an assignment of the claim; FairPlane, SkyRefund, AirCashBack and FlightCompensations act under a power of attorney or authorisation; others, such as Flight-Delayed, AirClaim, RefundMore and Flightright, use either.

Assignment or power of attorney: the questions people ask
What is the difference?
With an assignment the claim is transferred to the company and it claims in its own name; with a power of attorney or authorisation it claims in yours. FlightCompensations says its authorisation does not transfer the claim.
Can I sign online?
Most companies on this page say you sign online or digitally, from AirClaim's electronic signature to FairPlane's customer area or DocuSign; FairPlane adds that some airlines want the original by post.
Which of these companies have reviews on Trustpilot?
11 of the 15: AirCashBack, AirClaim, AirHelp, AviFly, ClaimFlights, FairPlane, Flightright, MYFLYRIGHT, RefundMore, Skycop and SkyRefund. Each card shows the rating, the number of reviews and the newest review date, read on the day shown.
Do these companies charge a fee if they win?
AirCashBack, AirClaim, AirHelp, AviFly, ClaimFlights, FairPlane, Flight-Delayed, FlightCompensations, Flightright, FlyClaims, MYFLYRIGHT, Refund Pilot, RefundMore, Skycop and SkyRefund publish a fee figure on their own websites. Each card gives the fee as the company states it, with its conditions, such as VAT or a separate court fee.
Can I claim without a claims company?
Yes. You can claim from the airline directly and for free; in the UK or EU you can go on to the national enforcement body or an approved dispute scheme if the airline refuses. A claims company takes a share of the compensation for doing that work for you.
Where can I check these facts myself?
Each card links the pages of the company's own website its lines were read from, under Sources, with the date they were read.
How were these companies chosen?
Each one is a claims company in the Uncompromised Travel flight compensation table and its own website says what you sign: an assignment that transfers the claim to it, or a power of attorney or authorisation that lets it act for you. A company is on the page because its published facts fit the question, never because it paid.
Is any company on this page paying to be here?
No. No company on this page is a partner of Uncompromised Travel; none paid to be listed.
