Do children and infants get flight compensation?
By Richard Jasinski·Updated 4 November 2026
Yes, a child with their own seat and ticket can claim, the claims companies on this page say: ClaimFlights (unless the ticket was free), Refund Pilot and RefundMore give the full amount. A baby on a lap without a seat is usually not eligible, AirAdvisor, Refund Pilot and FairPlane say.
Do children and infants get flight compensation?
A child on their own seat is owed compensation, the companies on this page say; ClaimFlights, Refund Pilot and RefundMore say the full amount. A parent or guardian signs for a minor. Lap infants have limited rights or none at most, though AirHelp notes Danish rulings that made infants eligible.

Children and infants: the questions people ask
Does a baby on my lap get compensation?
Usually not: AirAdvisor and Refund Pilot say a lap baby without their own seat is not eligible; AviFly says such infants have limited rights.
Who signs for a child?
A parent or guardian, FlyClaims, RefundMore and SkyRefund say.
Which of these companies have reviews on Trustpilot?
8 of the 10: AirAdvisor, AirHelp, AviFly, ClaimFlights, Compensation2Go, FairPlane, RefundMore and SkyRefund. Each card shows the rating, the number of reviews and the newest review date, read on the day shown.
Do these companies charge a fee if they win?
AirAdvisor, AirHelp, AviFly, ClaimFlights, Compensation2Go, FairPlane, FlyClaims, Refund Pilot, RefundMore and SkyRefund publish a fee figure on their own websites. Each card gives the fee as the company states it, with its conditions, such as VAT or a separate court fee.
Can I claim without a claims company?
Yes. You can claim from the airline directly and for free; in the UK or EU you can go on to the national enforcement body or an approved dispute scheme if the airline refuses. A claims company takes a share of the compensation for doing that work for you.
Where can I check these facts myself?
Each card links the pages of the company's own website its lines were read from, under Sources, with the date they were read.
How were these companies chosen?
Each one is a claims company in the Uncompromised Travel flight compensation table and its own website says how it treats children or infants on a claim. A company is on the page because its published facts fit the question, never because it paid.
Is any company on this page paying to be here?
No. No company on this page is a partner of Uncompromised Travel; none paid to be listed.
