It is the only one of seven dated, priced harvest programmes to clear the pass mark of 60. Grape Escapes' Douro grape-treading package (68/100) is the only wine harvest or en primeur programme that clears the pass mark in 2026; six others were scored and are not ranked, and four well-known names have no dated, priced programme to score. Most wine travel is sold to order, so this index scores only what can be compared: trips with a published date or bookable window and a published price. No: En Primeurs Week 2027, when the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux shows the 2026 vintage from barrel, runs from 19 to 22 April 2027 and invites wine professionals; the public event is the Weekend des Grands Crus, on 11 and 12 June 2027, which pours bottled vintages. Tickets for June 2027 go on sale in early November. The 2025 edition charged €65 for a standard ticket to the tasting at Hangar 14 on the Bordeaux quays, pouring the 2022 vintage and one older vintage; the UGCB says more than 100 château owners and representatives take part.

For a harvest-season visit to a classified Bordeaux estate on your own, Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Pessac-Léognan (map) runs its two-hour "In the Winegrower's Shoes" workshop on weekdays in September and October for €129 per person, by appointment. The merchants that sell en primeur wine do not sell trips: Berry Bros & Rudd lists no Bordeaux events among 76, all in the UK.
Published prices run from €60 for a grape-treading visit at Croft's Quinta da Roêda to €7,595 per person for BxWineX's six-day Bordeaux harvest tour at its 2025 price; the escorted multi-day trips cost US$5,595 to €7,595 per person, and Grape Escapes' private Douro package costs £664 to £1,454. Only three programmes confirm that guests pick or tread grapes: Grape Escapes in the Douro and in Champagne, and Croft at Quinta da Roêda; two more say it depends on the stage of the harvest, and two involve no grape work at all. Grape Escapes' Douro package is sold for three or four days at Quinta da Pacheca, the four-star wine hotel in the Douro, from late August to late September, with the exact dates fixed in June once the vintage is predictable. Guests pick alongside the harvest team and tread the grapes in the traditional lagares; the three-day version includes two breakfasts, a lunch, a dinner and about 12 wines, the four-day version three breakfasts, two lunches, a dinner and about 20 wines, with transfers included and flights extra. It takes the full 15 on inclusions and on terms: Grape Escapes' booking conditions ask for £100 or 20% on booking and the balance 60 days before travel, keep the deposit on cancellation more than 60 days out and charge 50%, 75% and 100% closer in, require travel insurance and name its ABTA membership. 1 · Book the window, not the date. Harvest follows the grapes; the Douro programmes set exact dates only a few months ahead, so keep your flights flexible or book them late.
2 · Check the day-by-day for the word "pick" or "tread". Only three programmes here confirm grape work; the rest sell the season.
3 · Ask who protects your money. Only Grape Escapes publishes an ABTA number and a full cancellation scale; for the others, ask for the terms in writing before paying a deposit.
