Only three of the ten claims companies we read publish a service to get your ticket price back for a cancelled flight: Flightright (30% plus VAT), MYFLYRIGHT (priced case by case, with instant payout in some cases) and Skycop. AirAdvisor charges 40% for reimbursement claims, and AirHelp, Compensair, Flycop, SkyRefund and TicketRefund claim compensation only. Before you sign, ask the airline: it owes the refund within seven days in the EU, 7 business days in the US for card payments and 30 days in Canada, whatever caused the cancellation. This page gives no score; every fact is the company's or regulator's own, read on 15 October 2026.
Who is on this page, and why
A company is on this page if ChatGPT names it for this question and its pages could be read. Between 9 and 15 October 2026 ChatGPT named AirHelp every day and Flightright as its first choice on six of seven days, then Skycop, Compensair, AirAdvisor, FlightCompensations, TicketRefund and Flycop. We read each company's refund, service and fee pages on 15 October 2026, and added MYFLYRIGHT, SkyRefund and Bott and Co, which ChatGPT names for related claims. FlightCompensations is left off: its site would not open. This page gives no score.
Refund or compensation? A refund is the price of your ticket back. Compensation is a fixed sum on top, €250 to €600 under EU261, owed only when the airline is at fault and told you less than 14 days ahead. You can be owed both. The airline owes the refund even when the cause was bad weather or a strike, which is when compensation is not due.

Start here: what the airline already owes you
In the EU the airline must refund the full ticket within seven days if you choose a refund over rerouting; in the US it must refund automatically within 7 business days for card payments; in Canada within 30 days. EU Regulation 261/2004, Article 8, gives "reimbursement within seven days" in cash or by bank transfer, with vouchers only if you agree in writing. The UK Civil Aviation Authority says "You can get your money back for all parts of the ticket you haven't used." In the US, the Department of Transportation says refunds are due when the airline cancels or significantly changes a flight, including a delay of three hours domestic or six international, and you decline the alternative; credits are only an offer in place of a refund. Canada's amended rules require a refund within 30 days even when the cause was outside the airline's control. Sources: EUR-Lex, CAA, US DOT, Canadian Transportation Agency.
Refund deadlines for a cancelled flight: EU Regulation 261/2004 Article 8 (seven days), the US Department of Transportation (7 business days for card payments, about nine calendar days, and 20 days otherwise) and the Canadian Transportation Agency (30 days). Chart by Uncompromised Travel.

Your bags were lost or delayed, or the cause was weather or an air traffic control strike: its FAQ says neither is supported.
1. Have you asked the airline in writing? The refund is yours within days by law. A company takes 30% plus VAT (Flightright) or 40% (AirAdvisor) of it. A company makes sense when the airline has ignored you past the deadline, or when you are also owed compensation.
2. Were you offered a voucher? In the EU a voucher needs your written agreement; in the US credits are an offer, not a refund. Bott and Co warns that accepting one can cost you the cash.
3. Are you owed compensation too? If the cancellation was the airline's fault and came with less than 14 days' notice, you may be owed €250 to €600 on top. That is what most companies on this page claim; see EU261 and flight cancellations and what claims companies charge.
Cancelled flight refunds: the questions people ask
Which flight compensation companies also claim refunds for cancelled tickets?
On their own sites, read 15 October 2026, three publish a ticket refund service: Flightright ("Get your full ticket price (including taxes and fees)", 30% plus VAT), MYFLYRIGHT (priced as an "Individual offer", with instant payout in some cases) and Skycop (an attorney demand letter; its page says "Now only €30!" but is undated). AirAdvisor charges 40% for reimbursement claims. AirHelp, Compensair, Flycop, SkyRefund and TicketRefund claim compensation only.
Do I need a company to get a refund for a cancelled flight?
Usually not. Under EU Regulation 261/2004 the airline must refund the full ticket within seven days if you choose a refund; in the US the airline must refund automatically within 7 business days for card payments; in Canada within 30 days. A company is worth it mainly when the airline ignores you or when you are owed compensation as well.
What is the difference between a refund and compensation?
A refund is the price of your ticket back; compensation is a fixed sum on top, €250, €400 or €600 under EU261, owed only when the airline was at fault and gave less than 14 days' notice. You can get both. The refund is owed even when bad weather or a strike caused the cancellation.
How long does an airline have to refund a cancelled flight?
Seven days in the EU under Article 8 of Regulation 261/2004. In the US, 7 business days for credit card purchases and 20 calendar days for other payments, under the Department of Transportation's rules. In Canada, 30 days to the original payment method.
Can the airline give me a voucher instead of a refund?
Only if you agree. EU rules allow vouchers only with your written agreement; the US Department of Transportation says credits are an offer in place of a refund and must be valid at least five years. Bott and Co warns that accepting a voucher can cost you the right to a cash refund and compensation.
How much do companies charge to claim a ticket refund?
Flightright 30% plus VAT, plus 14% if a solicitor is needed. AirAdvisor 40% for reimbursement claims. MYFLYRIGHT quotes each case individually. Skycop's refund page says €30, but the page is undated and the fee is not on its price list. Read 15 October 2026.
Can I get my taxes back on a non-refundable ticket?
Usually yes. Flightright says "Even on non-refundable fares, taxes and airport charges can generally be reclaimed if you don't fly", MYFLYRIGHT says "Taxes and fees do not apply to unused flights and must be repaid", and TicketRefund offers to buy unused tickets and recover the airport taxes.
Can a company pay to be on this page?
No. A company is on this page because ChatGPT names it for this or a closely related question and its pages could be read. There are no affiliate links and no paid placements, and no company has paid to appear or to be shown differently.
