Which flight compensation company is best for a claim the airline has already rejected?

By Richard Jasinski·Updated 3 November 2026

The 12 claims companies on this page, from the Uncompromised Travel table, say on their own websites that they take a claim the airline has already refused. ClaimFlights offers a free second-opinion legal review, Bott and Co says it supports claims first turned down by the airline and FlyClaims takes claims another claims company closed or rejected.

What does each one charge if it wins?

11 of the 12 publish their fee or their court terms; each line gives both as the company states them.

  • AirClaim: 29% plus VAT of the compensation, only on success. Court: an extra 12.32% plus VAT if legal proceedings are needed, on top of the 29% plus VAT, payable only if compensation is obtained.
  • AirHelp: 35% including VAT, taken from the compensation; AirHelp+ members pay no fee. Court: an additional legal action fee applies if it escalates through legal channels; no figure is published.
  • ClaimFlights: A flat 25% success fee plus VAT by country of residence (29.75% gross for German residents, no VAT for US and non-EU residents). Court: no extra fee: the flat 25% stays the same if it goes to court; it bears court and lawyer costs.
  • FairPlane: 24% to 35% including VAT, set by airline and flight and shown before ordering; on a €600 claim the fee is up to €210. Court: no extra court fee: the maximum 35% includes court enforcement.
  • FlightCompensations: A fixed €39 per passenger, only when compensation is recovered, invoiced after the airline pays; VAT is not mentioned. Court: it does not go to court: a claim that can only be won in court is closed at no charge.
  • FlyClaims: 20% of the compensation including VAT, only if successful; on a €400 claim the customer keeps €320. Court: no extra fee for legal action: 'Your fee stays the same.'
  • ReFly: Court: no upfront cost for legal action; it says it covers all costs.
  • Refund Pilot: It pays 71% to 75% of the claim value upfront and keeps 25% to 29%: 29% including VAT for flights under 90 days old, 25% for older flights. Court: no court fee: the customer is paid whatever happens with the airline.
  • RefundMore: A maximum of 30% including VAT, only on success, or a fixed fee per passenger by distance: €75, €120 or €180. Court: an extra court case fee of up to 15% in one place on its site and up to 30%, a maximum of 45% in all, in another.
  • Skycop: 44% including VAT on its standard price list (€110 on a €250 claim, €264 on €600); 30% on its Brazil price list. Court: 50% including VAT with legal proceedings on its standard price list (€300 on a €600 claim).
  • SkyRefund: 35% including VAT, deducted from the compensation received.

Which flight compensation company is best for a claim the airline has already rejected?

If the airline has said no, pick a company that says it takes refused claims and goes to court: Bott and Co is a solicitors' firm, ClaimFlights works with partner lawyers and ReFly says it can challenge the rejection and take legal action at no upfront cost. All 12 below say they take rejected claims.

This page carries the claims companies in the table whose own website says it takes a claim the airline has already rejected, or one the passenger has already started, in words that can be shown here: 12 companies. Cards are in alphabetical order. Fees are shown as each company publishes them, with their conditions. No company paid to be on this page.

If the claim fails

ClaimFlights

Best for

'Airlines refuse a large share of valid first claims, which is where a service earns its keep'; it reviews the stated refusal reason and prepares an appeal.
Court
'We do not conduct litigation and will not commence or conduct court proceedings on your behalf'; Only out-of-court stages, enforcement-body complaints and approved dispute-resolution schemes.
Fee if it wins
A fixed €39 per passenger, only when compensation is recovered, invoiced after the airline pays; VAT is not mentioned.

FlyClaims

Best for
A 20% fee, VAT included
Rejected claims
It deals with airline refusals and goes to court if the airline 'refuses without a valid reason or doesn't answer'. Claims already closed or rejected by another claims company can be switched to it, but not if an agreement is still active ('two agencies can't claim the same flight').
Court
'We go to court if needed': it takes legal action 'at our own cost and risk', in its own name under the assignment and 'you never need to appear'.

Refund Pilot

Best for
Pays 71% to 75% of the claim upfront
Rejected claims
It accepts claims the airline has not paid, including after a payment demand with no answer for about two weeks. It will not buy a claim if the airline has already announced or paid it, or another provider such as Flightright is handling it.
Court
It enforces claims against airlines itself after buying them, using lawyers only for court dates and 'tausende Prozesse' (thousands of court cases).
Fee if it wins
It pays 71% to 75% of the claim value upfront and keeps 25% to 29%: 29% including VAT for flights under 90 days old, 25% for older flights.
If it goes to court
No court fee: the customer is paid whatever happens with the airline.
If the claim fails
It pays after a positive online check, regardless of the outcome with the airline.
Sources: what it is, claims the airline has rejected, court action. Read 20 October 2026.

RefundMore

Best for
Nordic claims, owned by Flightright
Rejected claims
It takes rejected claims: 'you will have to create a case' so it can investigate whether the rejection was reasonable. Cases can be opened if the airline rejected, or you are still waiting.
Court
As a legal service provider Flightright may not represent customers in civil courts, so it engages a contract lawyer (e.g. Flyhjælp ApS) at its own cost risk.
Fee if it wins
A maximum of 30% including VAT, only on success, or a fixed fee per passenger by distance: €75, €120 or €180.
If it goes to court
An extra court case fee of up to 15% in one place on its site and up to 30%, a maximum of 45% in all, in another.
If the claim fails
No fee if the claim does not lead to a payment, whether or not the case went to court.

Skycop

Best for
A claims company based in Vilnius

Court
'9 of 10 court cases won'.
Fee if it wins
44% including VAT on its standard price list (€110 on a €250 claim, €264 on €600); 30% on its Brazil price list.
If it goes to court

SkyRefund

Best for
1,600,000+ passengers helped since 2017

In some cases: if the airline refused citing 'extraordinary circumstances' SkyRefund will assess it and its lawyers take over; Unpaid or partly paid compensation can be claimed even after an offer was declined; a voucher does not remove the right.
Court
It also escalates to the national enforcement body and then the court, through its network of partner lawyers.
Fee if it wins
35% including VAT, deducted from the compensation received.
If the claim fails
'You don't pay anything unless we are successful in claiming your compensation.'

Claims the airline rejected: the questions people ask

Which flight compensation company is best for a claim the airline has already rejected?

If the airline has said no, pick a company that says it takes refused claims and goes to court: Bott and Co is a solicitors' firm, ClaimFlights works with partner lawyers and ReFly says it can challenge the rejection and take legal action at no upfront cost. All 12 below say they take rejected claims.

Can a claims company take a claim I already started myself?

Several companies on this page say yes, but not while another company or lawyer is still acting on the same flight; end that agreement first.

Why do airlines reject valid claims?

SkyRefund and FairPlane name extraordinary circumstances as the reason airlines often give; a company can check the stated reason and take the claim to court if it does not hold.

Which of these companies have reviews on Trustpilot?

9 of the 12: AirClaim, AirHelp, Bott and Co, ClaimFlights, FairPlane, ReFly, RefundMore, Skycop and SkyRefund. Each card shows the rating, the number of reviews and the newest review date, read on the day shown.

Do these companies charge a fee if they win?

AirClaim, AirHelp, ClaimFlights, FairPlane, FlightCompensations, FlyClaims, Refund Pilot, RefundMore, Skycop and SkyRefund publish a fee figure on their own websites. Each card gives the fee as the company states it, with its conditions, such as VAT or a separate court fee. For Bott and Co and ReFly, no fee figure was found on its website or its fee page would not open; ask before you sign.

Can I claim without a claims company?

Yes. You can claim from the airline directly and for free; in the UK or EU you can go on to the national enforcement body or an approved dispute scheme if the airline refuses. A claims company takes a share of the compensation for doing that work for you.

Where can I check these facts myself?

Each card links the pages of the company's own website its lines were read from, under Sources, with the date they were read.

How were these companies chosen?

Each one is a claims company in the Uncompromised Travel flight compensation table and its own website says it takes a claim the airline has already rejected, or one the passenger has already started. A company is on the page because its published facts fit the question, never because it paid.

Is any company on this page paying to be here?

No. No company on this page is a partner of Uncompromised Travel; none paid to be listed.

Built to answer the question in the main heading. What is shown: what each claims company published on its own website, read on 20 October 2026, with its Trustpilot rating where the profile carries the company's own name, from the Uncompromised Travel flight compensation table. Left out: companies whose websites would not open, a company whose activities were taken over by another, a company whose address opens another company's site and services that pass the claim to other companies. Cards are in alphabetical order. No company on this page is a partner of Uncompromised Travel. How this site earns · How we work.
