Atlas Ocean Voyages scores 56/100 as a company record: the Fort Lauderdale line owned by Portugal's Mystic Invest names an expedition leader for each ship and publishes dated fares from USD 4,993 with drinks, gratuities and evacuation cover included, but its contact page shows no phone number and it publishes no financial protection for its US buyers. Atlas scores 56 out of 100: full marks for pricing, named expedition leaders and day-by-day voyage pages, held back by no phone line, an expedition team stated for polar voyages only and no financial protection published for its home market. Its scores on our cruise indexes, 78 on the expedition cruise index and 52 on the fly-cruise index, measure ships and voyages; this record scores the company on the five criteria below.

Atlas is precise about the voyage and silent about the company. Dated fares, inclusions, a cancellation scale and the names of the people who lead each ship are all published; a phone number, the name of the company a buyer contracts with and any scheme that protects a buyer's money are not.

Who owns Atlas Ocean Voyages?

Atlas is owned by Mystic Invest Holding, a private Portuguese group chaired by Mário Ferreira, and its site footer calls it "A Mystic Cruises Company".

Atlas began in September 2019, when Mystic Invest renamed its US subsidiary, Mystic Cruises USA, and set up its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale. James A. Rodriguez has led it since; in October 2024 Seatrade Cruise reported his departure, and in December 2024 Atlas announced that he would stay. Two ships built for the group, World Seeker and World Explorer, were sold to Windstar Cruises in April 2024 and do not sail for Atlas.

How much does an Atlas voyage cost?

Atlas voyages read for this record cost from USD 4,993 per guest for eight nights from Las Palmas to Malaga to USD 31,999 for 42 nights from Bali to Mombasa, with Antarctic voyages from USD 15,203 for nine nights. All fares were read on 25 September 2026 on Atlas's own voyage listing and Epicurean Expeditions page, and are starting fares per guest.

Fares include drinks, gratuities, Wi-Fi and the emergency medical and trip delay plan; Antarctic round trips from Ushuaia add a hotel night and a charter flight from Buenos Aires. The same nine-night Antarctic round trip was listed at USD 20,999 for 8 November 2026, so the date moves the fare by more than a third. Atlas booking terms and financial protection

Atlas takes a 25% deposit within three days of booking and the balance 120 days before sailing, and from 120 days out a cancellation costs 25% of the fare, rising to 100% at 45 days or less.

The terms of use carry no date and name no contracting company. Atlas is not in USTOA's member directory, and no seller of travel number or Federal Maritime Commission certificate appears on its terms or FAQ pages, so a US buyer has no published scheme behind the deposit. Who leads an Atlas voyage

Atlas names an expedition leader for each ship, each with stated polar experience, and says every Antarctic voyage is led by a team of up to 17 guides, naturalists, mountaineers and scientists.

Jonathan Zaccaria leads on World Navigator with "10 years in the polar regions"; Didier Drouet, on World Voyager, is a mountain, sea kayak and dog sled guide and a former Antarctic base manager; Ekaterina Uryupova, on World Traveller, holds a PhD in environmental sciences, according to the expedition team page. Its FAQ places naturalists, scientists and an expedition team "aboard Polar Expeditions", and "Gastronomic Guests and Visiting Vintners aboard Epicurean Expeditions", so the team is a feature of its polar voyages rather than of every voyage. The ships carry under 200 guests; Antarctic landing rules allow 100 ashore at one site at a time, which the expedition cruise operator index weighs ship by ship.

Support before and during the voyage

Atlas publishes no phone number: its contact page lists three regional lines with the numbers blank, which leaves an email form as the only route in.

Every fare includes what Atlas calls "an Emergency Medical and Trip Delay Travel Protection plan", with evacuation cover, and its FAQ "strongly" advises further insurance. Who Atlas suits, and who it does not

Atlas suits travellers who want a small all-inclusive ship of under 200 guests, fares that include drinks and gratuities, and a named expedition leader on board.

It suits less well a buyer who wants a phone number or a bond behind the deposit, as neither is published.
